We're All In ... with Mean Green Pride

Sara Gunn, left, and Miranda Chesson, at LaDiDa Boutique.Faculty and staff now can win green for wearing green on Mean Green Pride Days – and they can choose clothing from several new fashion lines - as part of expanded programs that encourage faculty, staff and residents of the Denton area to support the university.

Employees could receive $50 UNT Bookstore gift cards to purchase apparel by wearing green and checking in at the Mean Green Pride station on Library Mall every Friday on Mean Green Pride Days. Winners will be randomly selected every Monday.

The first Mean Green Pride Friday will be Aug. 31 and the first winner will be selected Sept. 4 - the day after the Monday, Sept. 3, Labor Day holiday.

Aug. 31 also is College Colors Day, a national promotion sponsored by ESPN TV sports network. College Colors Day celebrates the beginning of the college football season. Fans can compete for prizes with online support of their favorite school. That would be UNT, of course.

The UNT Bookstore will have new choices starting Aug. 30. Beyond the always popular T-shirts, new clothing will be available from manufacturers:

  • Meesh and Mia caters to female fans with dresses, scarves and ruffles – all with UNT colors and logos.
  • Southern Tide features polo shirts and ballcaps for men.
  • Hurley features surf wear style T-shirts, tanks and shorts for men and women.
  • Nike will have the latest Mean Green football coach sideline gear for men and women.
  • Ping features polo shirts for men.

In addition to the UNT Bookstore and Apogee Stadium store, local merchants, such as the La Di Da boutique, above, in downtown Denton, both Denton Wal-Marts and the Denton Super Target store now are selling UNT merchandise as part of the university's licensing program.

The Denton community also is getting involved in Mean Green Pride with the new “We’re All In” program.

The “Mean Green Pride - We’re All In” logo will be seen on select merchandise, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit “The Big Event,” a day of UNT student volunteerism that takes place each spring. The Denton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Denton support the program.

Faculty and staff can contribute when they purchase new products at the bookstore and stadium stores with the  “We’re All In” hangtag, right.
