Hooper returns to UNT technology duties

Jan. 10, 2013

John HooperJohn Hooper, right, an information technology executive who has served UNT and the UNT System for more than 20 years, will return full time to the role of UNT CIO and Vice Provost for Information Technology beginning Feb. 1.

Since 2011, John has been serving as both UNT CIO and Deputy System CIO and has had a pivotal role in helping shape and lead the formation of UNT’s IT Shared Services initiative.

By returning solely to the university, John will provide UNT with a leader dedicated to IT strategy across all units and focused on strengthening IT services in support of students, faculty and staff.

Having John in the university’s academic affairs team is invaluable for improving and sustaining the high level of information technology support required of a great university.

John will lead the university’s IT organization and will concentrate on IT strategic planning across the university, developing the vision for institutional IT services, creating partnerships with academic and administrative units, and fostering an effective collaboration between UNT and UNT System IT Shared Services.
