Smoke-Free Campus policy discussion scheduled

Nov. 28, 2012

Dear UNT community,
As you know, based on numerous studies about the dangers of secondhand smoke, UNT will become a Smoke-Free Campus as of Jan. 1, 2013. We are in the process of finalizing our Smoke-Free Campus Policy and will have a university-wide meeting for our students, faculty and staff, which will provide an opportunity to learn the details of our new policy, more fully understand it and ask questions.

The meeting:

  • When: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6
  • Where: Golden Eagle Suite, University Union
  • The meeting will be streamed online.

The most frequent questions relate to how this policy will be enforced. The general answer is that it will be self-enforced, and we plan for this to be discussed in the meeting. We also plan to show the new signs that will be posted on campus once the policy takes effect.

President V. Lane RawlinsThank you for helping to make UNT a great place to study and work.
