Smatresk begins tenure as 16th president

Smatresk WFAA

Neal Smatresk, above right, began his tenure as UNT president Feb. 3, marking his second university presidency. As UNT president, Smatresk will lead the university to strengthen its research, scholarship and artistic endeavors while continuing to expand the quality of its student body and faculty. He succeeds V. Lane Rawlins who is now serving as president emeritus.

President Smatresk plans to hold meetings with all major academic and administrative units to get to know the campus community and better understand UNT’s challenges and opportunities.

President Smatresk started his day with an early morning interview on WFAA-TV (Channel 8) by UNT Alumna and WFAA anchor Cynthia Izaguirre ('97), above left. Also read a story about Smatresk in the Feb. 2 issue of the Denton Record-Chronicle, and look for him the evening of Feb. 3 on KXAS-TV (Channel 5).

Keep reading InHouse for updates about additional appearances.
