Two graduate recruiters will discuss how they worked with CLEAR to create a virtual recruitment fair at a Brown Bag seminar from noon to 1 p.m. May 16 in Chilton Hall, Room 245. Bring lunch, dessert provided.
Dana Mordecai, recruitment and retention coordinator, and Lisa Valentine, recruitment graduate assistant, will discuss "Conference Outside the Box: Using Blackboard to Create a Virtual Graduate Recruitment Fair."
The virtual graduate fair – thought to be the first of its kind - allowed students one-on-one or small group interactions with representatives from graduate schools across the state.
The Toulouse Graduate School hosted an annual state-wide event, Lone Star Graduate Diversity Colloquium, in March. The event is a collective effort by all colleges and universities in Texas to encourage more underrepresented minorities, women and first-generation college students to stay in Texas and complete their graduate education.
To reach a larger audience, in addition to the two-day live conference, we created a virtual conference accessed by students at Texas Tech University, University of Texas at El Paso, University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Houston – Downtown.
The presentation will discuss CLEAR’s support of the virtual conference, how we got started, technology, executing the event, and lessons learned.
CLEAR will also stream the presentation LIVE online.
If you know of other faculty and staff involved in interesting things in the online learning environment, please send ideas to Michelle Farley at the Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign.
