Nominations for Honors Day awards due March 1

President V. Lane RawlinsFeb. 13, 2013

Dear UNT community,

Honors Day is a UNT tradition that dates back to 1950 and brings the UNT community together to recognize students who have excelled in academics, leadership, community service and athletics. Other important awards honor faculty, staff and students for special contributions and for going above and beyond.

This year's Honors Day, our 63rd, will be at 3 p.m. April 5 in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

We also have many people in our university community who embody excellence and help advance UNT. We want to make sure their efforts are properly recognized.

At the request of the Honors Day Committee, we are restoring three important Honors Day awards to their past prominence. I hope that you will consider nominating deserving students, faculty and staff members. Nominations are due March 1.

Learn more about eligibility requirements for these awards:

  • UNT Community Award - This award honors students, faculty or staff members for outstanding service to the university community. This service must have been above and beyond expected duties or responsibilities.
  • President’s Award - This award honors an individual or group for activities and/or accomplishments that have brought significant recognition to UNT.
  • Special Recognition Award - This award honors special contributions (such as outstanding long-term service or unusual singular contributions) to the university by a student or faculty or staff member. Any person who has performed outstanding service for the university in an area where no usual award is available is eligible for this award.

I hope you will join us to celebrate the success of our outstanding community members.
