Grab lunch at The Club at Gateway Center

Certified Executive Chef Pat Hershorn, SyscoChef Patrick Hershorn, right, director of culinary services and corporate executive chef for Sysco Foods of Dallas, will be the fall guest chef Nov. 9 at The Club at Gateway Center.

Hershorn's three-course menu will include seared beef tenderloin and a dark chocolate and toffee brownie ... yum. The $9 meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The Club at Gateway Center, is an integral part of the educational experience for the Hospitality Management program. The restaurant is a training laboratory for students enrolled in two restaurant operations courses. In these courses, students learn fine dining service techniques, menu planning, financial management, marketing and food production. A guest chef is invited to the restaurant for a day each semester.

Hershorn has been executive chef of the Dallas Museum of Art and at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, corporate chef for Cheddar's Casual Cafes and for Westcott Communications.

He is a certified executive chef and member of the American Culinary Federation and the Texas Chef's Association. He serves on the advisory board at El Centro College for Food and Hospitality Services. 

The Club at Gateway Center logoOn regular lunch days, the campus community can enjoy a variety of menu options ranging from chicken cordon blue to gumbo and beef bourguignon.Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Enter to win a pair of tickets for lunch through Dec. 2 (except Nov. 9) by sending an email by Nov. 4 with “The Club" in the subject line. Winners will be selected at random from all responses.

Lunch includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert and beverage for $7 per person. Season tickets for $56.70 are available and include a book of nine tickets which can be used in any combination for any meal each semester. Cash, checks and UNT IDOs are accepted.
