Auden poem inspired Heggie to pen meditative symphony

Composer Jake Heggie's "Ahab Symphony," commissioned by and written for the College of Music, premieres April 24 at the Murchison Performing Arts Center. The piece is his first full symphonic work, he says. Enter to win a pair of tickets.

Digital era artist takes pen to newspaper to create poetry

Austin Kleon's Newspaper Blackout poems will be on display at UNT on the Square through May 6. Kleon creates poetry by redacting newspaper articles with a marker.

Falsetta, Penkov named institute fellows for 2012-13 academic year

Vincent Falsetta, professor of studio arts, and Miroslav Penkov, assistant professor of English, will be faculty fellows in the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts in 2012-13. The institute supports excellence in visual, performing and creative literary arts.

Nearly a century of faculty artwork on display at UNT on the Square

The exhibition includes works from as early as 1901 and includes pieces by world-renowned artists such as Guatemalan painter Carlos Merida and avant-garde photographer Gyorgy Kepes.
