Lorna Owens Francis, instructor, School of Fine Arts

Lorna Owens Francis, 81, died April 9. She lived and traveled in India and Europe and her work was displayed in a U.S. Department of State exhibit in Sumatra. She taught at UNT from 1969 to 1976.

O. Lee Gibson, professor emeritus of music

O. Lee Gibson was coordinator of woodwind instruction from 1945 to 1980. He was an authority on clarinet acoustics and created a clarinet reed that remains popular with professionals around the world.

Faculty program in search of nominees for leadership, service and achievement awards

Deadline is 5 p.m. April 1 to submit nominations for faculty awards and for the new Ulys and Vera Knight Faculty Mentor Award. These UNT Foundation awards - valued at a total of $25,000 - honor scholarly-creative contributions, leadership and community engagement.
