Catch the A-train to the State Fair of Texas

Denton-area fair goers now have a quick and easy option to get to the State Fair of Texas.

The Denton County Transportation Authority’s A-train connects to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Green Line, which goes directly to Fair Park, home of the State Fair of Texas.

This option will save money in gasoline and parking costs as well as time and potential headaches for anyone heading to the State Fair from Denton.

DART Combo Tickets can be purchased at Kroger stores. The combo ticket costs $17 and includes the ride on the DART Green Line and entrance to the fair. Otherwise, State Fair admission costs $16 per adult. While the Combo Ticket does not include the ride on the A-train, riders can purchase a Local System Day Pass for the A-train portion of the trip for a discounted fare of $6, which will take riders all the way to the Trinity Mills Station.

As an added convenience, DCTA shuttles will operate additional hours each Saturday of the Fair to MedPark Station in Denton, Old Town Station in Lewisville and the DART Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton. The bus ride is included in the $6 Local Day Pass.

The State Fair marks its 125th anniversary this year with lots of celebrations, including concerts by KC and the Sunshine Band, Hanson, Randy Travis and The Bangles. Other events include a 20-member acrobat troupe from China, an exhibit celebrating the history of Texas and returning features, such as pig races, dog shows, auto shows and football games.
